Each year, the prestigious Master of Wine Tim Atkin travels to Chile to taste the latest harvests and select the country’s best wines for his highly anticipated report. In this edition, Casa Real Reserva Especial 2022 received an outstanding 97 points, further solidifying its status as a benchmark of Chilean viticulture.

This marks the highest score Atkin has ever awarded to this elegant Cabernet Sauvignon from the Maipo Valley, Alto Jahuel. The wine’s exceptional quality stems from a unique combination of factors, where Alto Jahuel’s remarkable terroir, the nobility of its variety, and vast winemaking experience converge to create an extraordinary wine.

Sebastián Labbé, Casa Real’s winemaker and recognized in 2023 as one of the Top 100 Winemakers in the World by The Drinks Business magazine, comments: “Casa Real 2022 is an exceptional wine, with great concentration and elegance. This fresh and vibrant vintage presents a deep ruby color and intense aromas of cassis, ripe cherries, and tobacco, with subtle spicy notes. The grapes for Casa Real come from a massal selection of Cabernet Sauvignon from the historic Carneros Viejos blocks, planted in the early 1970s, and Población, established in the 1980s. These vineyards have always been the heart and soul of this wine.

This new recognition adds to the extensive portfolio of awards Casa Real Reserva Especial has accumulated over the years, reaffirming its exceptional character and its position among Chile’s greatest wines.
